About Phillips Driving School
Steven Phillips, Your local Experienced Driving Instructor In Godalming
I am a friendly, understanding, and patient driving instructor who takes great pride in my work. Teaching new drivers is more than a job — it’s a passion. I enjoy helping learners develop strong problem-solving skills, build confidence, and progress into safe, independent drivers.
My teaching style is personalised, supportive, and safety-focused, ensuring every student receives tailored guidance to master a lifelong skill that has a positive impact on their everyday life. When I’m not behind the wheel, I enjoy running, travelling, and spending quality time with my family.
My experience
I have over 27 years of driving experience, having travelled the length and breadth of the UK, as well as driving extensively in the USA, Europe, and Türkiye. I’ve driven a wide variety of vehicles, from small to large, automatic and manual, giving me a broad and practical understanding of real-world driving.
My core career was in aviation, where professionalism, safety, and precision were essential—values I bring into my driving instruction every day. I have now been a qualified driving instructor for over six years, having completed my training with BSM Driving School, where I have proudly remained ever since.
My ambition has always been to create my own small business, built on trust, experience, and high standards. With this in mind, PHILLIPS DRIVE was created in Spring 2026, offering calm, professional, and confidence-building driving lessons tailored to each individual.

I guide you step by step through everything from basic vehicle controls and traffic laws to more advanced techniques such as parking, manoeuvres, and handling real-world driving scenarios.
With patient instruction, clear explanations, and a strong focus on confidence and safety, I ensure you feel comfortable, capable, and fully prepared for independent driving.

I can support and develop your driving skills through structured, confidence-building lessons tailored to your individual needs. Together, we’ll focus on areas where you may not have had much practice—such as junctions, roundabouts, manoeuvres, or independent driving—helping you gain confidence, control, and real-world experience.
With clear guidance, patient instruction, and a strong emphasis on road safety, I’ll help you overcome uncertainty, refine your decision-making, and become a safe, capable, and confident driver.
Pass Plus
Pass Plus
Pass Plus is a certificated programme that offers additional training beyond the standard driving test. On completion, you receive a Pass Plus certificate, recognising your improved skills and increased driving experience.
The course builds confidence in night driving, rural roads, and busy urban environments. Through personalised feedback and practical experience, I help you become a safer, more confident driver in a wide range of situations.
